The Thosamling Institute for Buddhist Women is situated within sight of his Holiness' the Dalai Lama's residence in Dharamsala and a five minute drive from the XXVII Gyalwa Karmapa's home at Gyuto Monastery. Conceived primarily as a monastic place of study and practice for Tibetan Buddhist nuns of the Gelug, Kagyu, Nyingma and Sakya schools, Thosamling also accommodates nuns from all traditions as well as laywomen looking to further their Dharma studies or do retreat here in India.
On this website you will be able to find information on teachings, the Tibetan Language programme and the latest news with photos and information about building, fund raising and recent happenings at the institute.

We at Thosamling take every opportunity to thank our benefactors from all over the world, without whom this project would not have been possible and particularly His Holiness the Dalai Lama whose contribution enabled us to construct the temple/library complex.
